Workplaces with a culture of ‘body peace’ support people to engage in treatment. Knowing the avoidable eating disorder mortality rate in Australia, committing to being a Body Peace Workplace is literally lifesaving.

Become a Body Peace Workplace

What is a Body Peace Workplace?

Body Peace Workplaces are about a culture where everyone can proactively develop strong mental health, based on a happy relationship with body, food and movement.

Eating disorders are rising and currently impact 1 in 10 Australians. They are a set of widespread illnesses shrouded in stigma and shame — deeply painful not only for the person experiencing an eating disorder, but for their parents, families, friends, partners and other loved ones.

It takes a village to shift this, and the workplace is part of it. The good news is, workplaces that enable people with eating disorders and their carers to participate in treatment can help people recover and thrive.

The Body Peace Workplaces program is based on leading evidence, including the global psychosocial safety standard ISO 45003:2021. Our team of educators, thought leaders, clinicians and advocates will work with you to develop work practices that promote wellbeing habits and curb the harms of eating disorders.

How can you become a Body Peace Workplace?

We know you care about genuine change, not token gestures. We partner with you on a suite of support over an extended period.

Run a launch seminar

This will introduce the program, with opportunities for questions — may include a clinician (e.g., dietician) or a thought leader (e.g., Eating Disorders Victoria CEO).

Promote stories of recovery

An EDV Ambassador will share their profound experience of recovery from an eating disorder, to create awareness of what it’s really like and share what helped them along the way.

Deliver evidence-based workshops

Choose from a menu of workshops. We can tailor content to your team.

  • Understanding eating disorders: learn the risk factors and signs.
  • Supporting someone with an eating disorder: how to provide support that is effective, empathetic, and helps someone seek professional help early.
  • Building a positive relationship with food: how to develop positive habits with food and eating.
  • Body image: understanding body image, influences, and working towards a more positive relationship with your body.
  • Physical activity and movement: encouraging positive movement that is joyful and feels good, but also supports functional wellbeing.
  • Strategies for self-care and coping skills: develop personal coping strategies and self-care skills for good wellbeing.
  • The carer journey: explore the experiences and challenges that carers face when their loved one develops an eating disorder, and workplace strategies to support carer wellbeing.

Share resources

It is so crucial to keep the conversation going. We provide further information about eating disorders, and happy relationships with body, food and movement. These include posters, brochures, or others on request, and can be cobranded.

“The workshops have allowed us to be better informed about mental health and eating disorders. I would highly recommend EDV’s workshops to any organisation seeking to enhance workplace wellness.”
