What is a Body Peace Workplace?

Body Peace Workplaces are about a culture where everyone thrives with strong mental health, based on a free relationship with body, food and movement.

Eating disorders impact 1 in 10 Australians and they are on the rise. They are a silent crisis shrouded in stigma and shame — deeply painful not only for the person experiencing an eating disorder, but for their parents, families, friends, partners and other loved ones.

It takes a village to shift this, and the workplace is part of it. The good news is, workplaces that enable people with eating disorders and their carers to participate in treatment can help people recover and thrive.

The Body Peace Workplaces program is based on leading evidence, including the global psychosocial safety standard ISO 45003:2021. Our team of educators, thought leaders, clinicians and advocates will work with you to develop work practices that promote wellbeing habits and curb the harms of eating disorders.

Become a Body Peace Workplace

How can you become a Body Peace Workplace?

We know you care about genuine impact, not token gestures. We partner with HR, Health & Safety teams, wellbeing leaders and executives to deliver a suite of support over an extended period. You will support employees, reduce absenteeism, and boost productivity by fostering a mentally healthy workplace.

“I found the Body Peace Workplace program extremely beneficial. Each session focused on an important topic, from understanding eating disorders, supporting someone with an eating disorder, and building a positive relationship with food. The EDV Educator allowed us to learn what an eating disorder is, how we can support a loved one and families impacted by an eating disorder and where we can look for support and advice.”
—Sue Sires, Coordinator Property, Orica

Expert panel

This will introduce the concept of Body Peace. We explore the impact of diet talk, body dissatisfaction and eating disorders at work, with opportunities for questions.

The panel includes experts, such as:

  • people who has recovered from an eating disorder
  • clinicians – e.g., dietician, psychologist
  • thought leaders – e.g., Eating Disorders Victoria CEO.

Stories of recovery

An EDV Ambassador will share their profound experience of recovery from an eating disorder. These powerful stories create awareness of what it’s really like, share what helped them and their loved ones along the way, and be a positive example of what work after illness can look like.
