Resignation of EDV CEO Belinda Caldwell

Eating Disorders Victoria (EDV) announces the resignation of Belinda Caldwell from the position of Chief Executive Officer, with intention to semi-retire.

Belinda has courageously led EDV through seven years of change, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the transition to telehealth service delivery, and funding uncertainty. Her leadership has allowed us to continue growing and showing up for our community.

“Being part of, and serving, the EDV community has been the highlight of my career, and a lovely note to end this chapter of my working life,” says Belinda.

“The Board, the team and our community are incredibly passionate, committed and joyful to be part of — even when we’re walking alongside people on some of the most difficult journeys they can go on.

“While I am taking a step back to transition to retirement, my hope is to still support and contribute to the eating disorders space where I have opportunities to make a difference.”

Belinda came to EDV from a notable career in senior roles in public health, eating disorder advocacy and nursing.

Through the pandemic, Belinda worked proactively to ensure our community could access the support they increasingly needed. She piloted carer coaching, telehealth counselling, targeted peer support groups, and support for people with longstanding eating disorders.

She has always centred the role of lived experience expertise in eating disorder care, and championed the genuine professionalisation of peer work – not only within EDV but across the sector.

Belinda also notably led the successful advocacy for a Victorian Eating Disorders Strategy, securing EDV as a key partner in its design and delivery.

Through funding uncertainty, in 2024 Belinda secured $2.6 million per year over three years in state funding. She has also boldly diversified EDV’s income with new fundraising initiatives.

“The EDV Board thanks Belinda for her genuine commitment, knowledge and tireless advocacy. We thank Belinda too for her steady and consistent leadership; she should be both personally and professionally proud of her many achievements with EDV.” says Emma Reid, EDV Board Chair.

Belinda will finish in May 2026, with a handover period to onboard the new CEO. Recruitment will commence in January 2026.

The staff, volunteers and Board of EDV extend deep gratitude to Belinda for her contributions to our organisation and our community. We warmly wish Belinda and her family all the best in this next chapter.
